Xemed announced that its scientific abstract contribution entitled “Spectrally Narrowed 1.5 KW Optical Pumping Laser for Large-Scale SEOP Production of Hyperpolarized Gases” has been accepted by the program committee of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and will be presented on May 11 in Montreal, Canada. Bill Hersman, Xemed’s President and CEO, will present the poster. The abstract describes Xemed’s refinements in correcting optical paths from laser emitters in a stack of diode bars to combine them into a spectrally-narrowed beam. A new optical correcting element provides individual deflections for hundreds of emitters that eliminate the errant deviations resulting from manufacturing defects, or “smile” in the laser bars. The refined laser is incorporated into Xemed’s xenon-129 and helium-3 polarizer products.
